Under the Silver Lake
Rocboi (Hood.Metal.R&B), a former artist during the 2010's and creator of Hood Metal released a song called MindFuk (also listed as MindFuk (feat. Hex-O)) which was featured in the 2019 film Under the Silver Lake, directed by David Robert Mitchell.
Sam, a disenchanted young man, finds a mysterious woman swimming in his apartment's pool one night. The next morning, she disappears. Sam sets off across LA to find her, and along the way he uncovers a conspiracy far more bizarre.
The song appears in the film’s soundtrack in two specific contexts:
It is played as the second song in a passing car early in the movie.
It is also featured during a scene where characters Sam and Balloon Girl sit and chat at the Crypt Club (Hotel Basement) during Old Music Night.
Critics have noted the song's placement as "appropriately titled" and "sublime," helping to keep the film's atmosphere moving with its distinct beat.
